Barton Civic Society 1969-2019 – Waters’ Edge

Waters’ Edge Country Park was created from reclaimed industrial land which had become one of the most toxic sites in Europe.  Landscape historian Richard Clarke traces the story of the site and the clean-up challenge inherited by North Lincolnshire Council – an issue closely monitored by the Civic Society in the 1990s.  The talk is part of the Society’s ongoing celebration of its fiftieth anniversary, and takes pace in the Joseph Wright Hall starting at 7.30pm

Non-members are welcome (£2).  Ground floor with wheelchair accessible toilet.

Sunday School

We are gathering memories of Sunday School as part of our plans to restore the former Primitive Methodist Chapel (1867) which was also the Salvation Army’s Citadel between 1961 and 2016.

The original ground-floor Sunday School room is now a multi-purpose community space  and the remnants of the Chapel can be see on the first floor.

We’d like to hear about your memories of Sunday School – here or elsewhere to add to our story of education.

10am -4pm

Free

First floor access by stairs or stair lift only.
